Terms of Lease

1.   All fields to be seeded must be in a condition that will not cause damage or unnecessary wear to the no-till seeder.  This is not limited to but includes new ground or cut over ground.

2.  The seeder will be used only on land in Bedford County unless permission is granted in writing from the District Board.

3.  A fee of $12.00 per acre on 0-20 ac. with a $150.00 minimum usage fee, $11.00 per acre on 21-40 ac., and $10.00 per acre on 41 and up will be required. 

Payment of fee is due upon completion of use of seeder.  Lessee will make note of acres on acre meter before start seeding and after finishing seeding. 

Lessee will pay based on acres calculated from acre seed meter. 

30 days net for billing. A late charge of 10% will be added to all balances for each 30 days payment is not received. If payment in full is not received within 6 months lessee will be unable to lease the no-till seeder again in perpetuity.”

4.  Lessee is responsible for picking up the no-till seeder from designated location.  Usually the location will be from the previous user’s farm.  Lessee agrees to store seeder in an accessible location until picked up by the next user.

5.  Lessee is responsible for any damage incurred to the seeder due to misuse.  Normal wear is expected.

6.  Lessee may be charged a $150.00 cleaning fee if using coated seed in the no-till seeder. The charge of this fee will be at the discretion of the drill manager.

7.   A tractor of 70 horsepower or greater should be used.

8.   ¾ or 1 ton vehicle required to pull the no-till seeder unless ½ ton pick up has heavy duty tow kit.  Assistance chains must be attached properly.

9.   Lessee is responsible for notifying the Peaks of Otter Soil and Water Conservation District upon completion of use by calling (540) 871-0665. 

10.  Lessee is responsible for care of tarp and tie downs used to cover seed box.  Tarp should be placed in tool box when no-till seeder is in use and securely fastened to seed box while no-till seeder is not in use.

I, the undersigned, understand that both pre and post seeding management practices must be followed in order to provide a good stand establishment and yields.

The Peaks of Otter Soil and Water Conservation District assumes no liability whatsoever for the failure or success of the crop as a result of the use of this seeder.

Lessee assumes all liability during the use and transport of this machine. Recommended speed during transport is 25mph.
